Ra the Mighty – Cat Detective

Introducing a delightful new cat mystery just out from Holiday House Books called Ra the Mighty.  A royal cat and his sidekick track a jewelry thief in this funny new seriesChock full of witty writing and zany illustrations, it asks the age old question … can a lazy cat and a dung-obsessed beetle crack a mystery?  >^..^<

Ra relishes his role as Pharaoh’s beloved — and outrageously spoiled — cat. The only mystery that interests him is when his next snack will arrive. But when a priceless amulet goes missing from the palace, and a young servant girl is falsely blamed for the theft, Ra’s hardworking scarab-beetle buddy, Khepri, insists that they must save her.

Can Ra and Khepri solve the crime? This comically mismatched duo is on the case!  Our tuxie (Newman – below right) was mesmerized when we read it to him.

Once Ra gets going, he decides that being a Great Detective isn’t so bad; he certainly doesn’t mind being hailed as “Protector of the Weak and Defender of Justice.”

Here’s what the critics are saying:

The exciting ancient setting, as well as the characters’ idiosyncratic personalities and their delightful repartee, will appeal to young readers. Fast-paced adventure with a lot of charm.” — Kirkus Reviews

A charming page-turner of a mystery; recommend to cat lovers and young Egyptologists.” — School Library Journal

With more twists and turns than a mummy’s maze, Ra The Mighty: Cat Detective is a mystery that you can really sink your claws into.” — Mo O’Hara, author of the My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish series.
